Im 36yrs old and was born and raised in Richmond and i can remember many of the buildings in downtown being constructed.I really want to see a picture of the old 9th street bridge that i heard many stories about.
just amazing photos! I just turned 50 and was raised in Richmond - I also remember many of the newer buildings as they went up over the years - and I vividly remember going across the old 9th Street Bridge into downtown. Particularly after the Camille flood in 1969, the 9th street bridge had to be replaced. it was ancient even then - and while the Manchester Bridge never had the old 'character' that the 9th street bridge had - it was far superior - particularly in terms of height and sheer mass - and as time would prove, could withstand the big floods that Richmond has endured over the years.
