Today's before and after is 2623 East Broad Street, the current home of Captain Buzzy's Beanery, a great coffee shop/cafe in Church Hill. First up is a shot from May of 1983.
I remember Quik Check, the kind of market that blocked all natural light with signs in the windows and sold hair extensions, beer and potatoes. Though I'm glad the place has been opened up by the current owners to showcase the grandeur of the interior (Quik Check was so dark and dingy, I can't remember if you could see the pressed tin ceiling or not), I'm still nostalgic for the old Quik Check.
I lived on 25th and broad around Sept of 86'. Right next door to the (@ the time) Lt. Gov. Wilder office. I remember going to quik check and having bad lighting also. I was 9 then and went to St. Patricks around the corner.

ReplyDeleteNearly 30 years between photos and that old "Thru Trucks" sign is still standing.
