Shoppers on Broad Street - 1960s

From roughly the mid 1960s comes this shot of shoppers on Broad Street in front of the entrance to the old Woolworth's store. This corner is now the parking lot/entrance to the Hilton Garden Inn/Miller & Rhoads Condos.

  1. Whenever I see bustle photos like this they are so surreal because you'd be lucky to see 100 pedestrians max on strips like this nowadays.

    1. Take a long look at that photo and you'll see the reason why there are no pedestrians there today. Sad, isn't it? It's the plight of many once-great cities in this country.

    2. Hmmnnn, I think I see what you're getting at, but not sure where you're going with it. My guess is it's not good, judging by how vague you're being, and the lack of a name.

  2. Woolworth's was great - you could buy anything there and a good grill cheese to boot!
